Check this out for work-life balance. The company I work for have started this awesome new initiative where everyone dedicates a whole day every quarter to their own personal development and wellbeing. No meetings allowed. What a great opportunity!

I planned my day with a gratitude journal, meditation, a hike, yoga, Spanish lessons, listening to a career podcast and working on a coding project. Can you believe I’m getting paid for this?

I love taking photos on hikes and nowadays I use my iPhone Pro 13. I’m in no way a professional photographer and I’ve had no training whatsoever. Arby gifted me a camera once for a big trip and I didn’t even know how to use the zoom to get the monkeys we spotted!

One day once a quarter, we give our people the time to step back from a usual meeting-led day and instead spend time doing something for their #wellbeing, personal growth or to connect with their team!

My EMPLOYER

I always want to capture the beauty that I see out in nature but the camera never seems to do it justice. Maybe it’s my skills that are lacking. This time I decided to try and showcase the nature I love by taking clips and Arby pieced them together for me because I was struggling. And well, he is a professional!

This hike was straight from my door and out of the village centre into the fields and over to Hall Farm. The route also takes you through the woods and a church yard which would be super scary in the dark with all the old grave stones. Overall the route is really nice as it’s mostly off road and you get to see the River Loddon too.

I wish I could do it more but it takes a couple of hours so I can’t fit it into lunch breaks. I took my father in law Chris here once and he ended up with blisters so it’s not as easy going as it looks. Some days, my injury from the car crash I had years ago hurts so much I can’t walk that far so it’s nice to have the video footage when I want a reminder. Enjoy!
