In the heart of the ancient and enchanting city of Valletta, where cobblestone streets whisper tales of history and timeless beauty, La Pira, a cherished family-run Maltese restaurant that beckons patrons with the promise of tradition, warmth, and flavours that pay homage to the island’s rich gastronomic heritage.

Maltese cusine was on Fordy’s hitlist for this week. We only had a couple of days in Malta as we had tagged this trip on the back end of a gig I was doing in the city of Valetta. With no time to lose, she did her research on trip advisor and found a place that boasted the taste of Malta so we battled through the bustling streets in the almost 40 degree heat to track down the local cusine she was looking for.

Fordy ordered the MALTESE SPECIAL to start which consisted of Maltese sausage, goats cheese, toasted bread and tomato chutney where I went for the prawn carpaccio and for main she had the pulled rabbit rigatoni and for me the pan fried octopus.

The food was everything the reviews we’d read had promised, cooked with love and it showed and it wasn’t just the food that was great, the staff were attentive, helpful and helped recommend the local dishes that they felt really shone on the menu although after tasting what we ordered I’d warrant the rest of the menu was just as good.

La Pira – Maltese Kitchen – family run small character restaurant in a 300 years old building. This Maltese kitchen popular with fresh local dishes, variety of fresh pasta, fresh salads, soups and specials every day.
